Description Organizing a workshop with lecturer Magoa Hanke. Join us for a transformative two-day workshop where you'll explore the intersection of creative expression and social change through two powerful methods: Theater of the Oppressed and Contemporary Shadow Theater. Aswell as their combination and their trauma-informed creative use in Social Pedagogy. Unveiling the World of Light and Shadow: Dive into Contemporary Shadow Theater as we playfully explore various light sources and the materials and techniques that bring this art form to life. Which creative possibilities does Contemporary Shadow Theater open up? How can it add to a trauma-informed approach in Social Pedagogy? Creating Change through ‘Theater of the Oppressed’: Engage with the foundational techniques of Image Theater and experience a taste of Forum Theater to foster dialogue and empowerment. We will also use closely related methods, such as Creative Writingexercises, to draw inspiration from our own lives and personal experiences. Throughout the workshop our thematic focus will lie on gender and other roles: Which parts of ourselves are in the light and which remain hidden in the shadow? Can we shine a spotlight on these roles, engage in physical dialogue and spark positive change within ourselves and our communities? This workshop is ideal for university students who are interested in social justice, theater, arts activism or arts education, and who want to explore how these tools can be used to create meaningful change. No prior experience in theater is required – just a willingness to explore, reflect, and create! MAGOA HANKE – queer*feminist artist and adult educator Magoa Hanke is a queer*feminist artist and adult educator, blending theory, the body, arts and activism. Their workshops and performances are rooted in a Gender Studies background, an intersectional approach and a trauma-aware focus on anti-discrimination and the power of pleasure. Magoa combines Contemporary Shadow Theatre and Forum Theatre – making use of their artistic richness and inherent possibilities for people who do not like to or are not used to be in the spotlight, to speak up and to be heard. As an artist and educator, Magoa is performing internationally and cooperating with different cultural and academic institutions as well as communities, NGOs and cities. More: www.magoa.eu
