Description | Magoa Hanke, who is an active part of TO Vienna since 2011, will share key themes, methodologies used and interesting projects of TO Vienna past and present. Magoa will highlight how TO Vienna uses theater as a tool for social change and share insights into its current areas of focus. Following the presentation, there will be an open discussion to explore common threads between TO Vienna and other organizations, exchange ideas on projects, and explore potential opportunities for future collaboration. TO VIENNA – using Theater of the Oppressed methods for Social Change TO Vienna is one of the most experienced NGOs in Austria for Theatre of the Oppressed (TO). This is body-focused, resistant and power-critical theater pedagogy. The aim of our participatory and educational work is to create dialog and commitment to a fairer world. Our work starts with our everyday life together. And we prioritize the empowerment of oppressed and marginalized groups in society and the associated community work. Our focus is on feminism, climate justice and precarious work. Their workshops and performances are rooted in a Gender Studies background, an intersectional approach and a trauma-aware focus on anti-discrimination and the power of pleasure. Magoa combines Contemporary Shadow Theatre and Forum Theatre – making use of their artistic richness and inherent possibilities for people who do not like to or are not used to be in the spotlight, to speak up and to be heard. As an artist and educator, Magoa is performing internationally and cooperating with different cultural and academic institutions as well as communities, NGOs and cities. More: www.magoa.eu |
