Description By the end of the 20th century computers have become indispensable part of our everyday life. They have also become indispensable part of each imaging laboratory. However, their power is not always utilized in the optimal way and not all offered features are really used. This paper concerns the employment of computers in light microscopy for the improvement of quality control and data management. The aim of this summary is to show how computers can help microscope users at different phases of the imaging process. Not all features described in this article are commercially available at present time but this may change in future depending on what users will demand.
