| Description | Previous research findings suggest that depressive symptoms at children may co-occur with problem behaviors such as conduct disorder, hyperactivity or social problems. Our study aimed to explore the relationship between self-reported depressive symptoms measured by the Children's Depression Inventory (CDI) and the degree of problem behaviors assessed by the Youth Self-Report Form of the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL). Non-referred sample of 130 children and adolescents aged from 12 to 16 years was examined. Children with depressive symptoms displayed more internalizing as well as externalizing problems; particularly, they scored higher than non-depressive children in social problems, attention problems, thought problems, and aggressive and delinquent behavior scales. Our results support the expected comorbidity of child and adolescent depression. |
