| Description | Czech lands frontier settlement after the 2 nd World War represented a complex of changes in national, economic, political, demographic and social area what radically influenced lives and thinking of millions people for several decades. It conincided with displacement of Germans from Czechoslovakia after May 1945. During several years, this area went through the most significant changes in all its history. More than third of the western part of Czechoslovakia was resettled. About five milion people moved and more than half of were new settlers - Czechs, Slovaks and members of other Slavic nations - reemigrants and repatriates. The essay explains this process in six individual border regions with its specific features. |
