Description Victory and records are accepted by the society as features of representation of the inhabitants, nation and patriotism. Similarly, the sports success influences the sportsmen themselves. In failure cases the performance motivation decreases, the surrounding looses its interest, sportsmen are criticised and negative reactions of spectators and society appear. Sportsmen face many situations that cannot motivate them, that lead to frustration, excessive self-criticism and early end of sports career. On the other hand, older and unbeaten sportsmen are popular over decades, although their sports performance stagnates. The reaction of the surrounding influences the sportsmen in both ways and thus has a significant role in the sports career. Many former top performance sportsmen have not managed to find their place in ordinary life and after the end of sports career they experience an unfulfilled life.
