Description In oncological diseases treatment we can take advantage of vaccination with tumour lysate-loaded autologous dendritic cells. Dendritic cells, which are antigen-presenting cells, then present tumour antigens in vivo to T-cells and thus stimulate anti-tumour immune response in the patient`s body. This approach was tested worldwide in many clinical trials phase I/II in patients with various types of cancer (e.g. melanoma, metastatic renal carcinoma, colorectal carcinoma, hepatocelular carcinoma and others). In addition to immunological response, objective clinical response was reported in some cases. In the University Cell Immunotherapy Center the manufacturing method of GMP-quality autologous dendritic cell-based vaccines was validated this year. Up to now, one rhabdomyosarcoma patient was vaccinated with so prepared dendritic cells. In a few days phase II clinical trial will be initiated in patients with glioblastoma multiforme.
