Description Biochemical analyses of enzymatic activities in three different monogenean parasite genera of both marine and freshwater hosts were conducted. Parasite models chosen for this study were the following: Paradiplozoon bliccae Reichenbach-Klinke, 1961, gill parasite of Blicca bjoerkna L., Diplectanum aequans Wagener, 1857 gill parasite of Dicentrarchus labrax L. and Neobenedenia girellae (Hargis, 1955) Yamaguti, 1963 skin and fins parasite of pomacanthid fishes. Remarkable activities of glutathione-S-transferase, p-nitrophenilacetate-esterase, acetylcholinesterase, alcaline phosphatase, acid phosphatase and sialidase were observed. Weak activity of leucine-aminopeptidase was detected in capsalid parasites only. Significant differences in enzymatic activities between the studied parasite models were recorded.
