The project focuses on possibilities of forms of Old-Slavic slow-rotation potter wheel, which was used in 9th and 10th century in the area of the Great Moravian Empire. Possible reconstructions of the wheel will be found in the literature. The most probable reconstruction will be chosen and subsequently its ability to work will be verified. The outputs of the project should bring considerable amount of new knowledge concerning the daily life in the period of Great Moravia.

Results

The participants of the project have studied the relevant literature. It was found out that in fact only one hypothetical model of an old-Slavic pottery wheel exists. The model presented in literature was analysed and consequently used as a schema for a construction of an entirely functional pottery wheel. By the means of an experimental making of an old-Slavic pottery was proved that the model is potentially correct, as the pottery wheel made by the participants of the project is perfectly applicable for producing early medieval pottery.
