The Faculty of Education of Masaryk University expresses its deep solidarity with the students and their families from Myanmar, which was affected by the recent devastating earthquake. This tragic event also affected 11 students of our faculty who are from this country. Our faculty is doing its best to support them and their families during this difficult time.
In Myanmar, thousands of people have lost their homes, infrastructure is destroyed, and food and water are becoming unavailable. Aid is facing major obstacles. In addition, destroyed roads, broken telecommunications and internal unrest are hampering the organisation and distribution of aid.
The biggest problems they encounter on site are:
- Hospitals and medical facilities are in ruins.
- People have lost the roof over their heads.
- Food warehouses are contaminated or destroyed.
- Drinking water is becoming a luxury.
- Basic hygiene supplies are disappearing fast and their price is skyrocketing.
You can also support the people of Myanmar by donating to a relevant charity. For example, the ADRA Czech Republic collection, which is a humanitarian and development organisation helping people in need both in the Czech Republic and abroad. The aim of the collection is to help those most affected by the earthquake in South East Asia. If you are interested in making a donation to indirectly support our students and their loved ones during this difficult time, please use this link to the fundraiser: SOS ADRA EARTHQUAKE ASIA
Thank you for your support and solidarity. Together we can bring hope to those who need it most. We are thinking of our students and their families.
