Current development in modern society forces schools to undergo substantial change towards
becoming inclusive. The research project addresses inclusion in schools; however, it aims to
explore it in a non-traditional way, which manifests itself in the following three areas: 1) choice
of schools, 2) focus on processes fostering inclusion, and 3) research methods. Pursuant to
circumstances detailed in the project’s section C1, investigations will be carried out in highly
inclusive schools. The second area involves paying extra attention (greater than in research
performed in the Czech Republic thus far) to factors and processes that determine the
implementation and quality of inclusive measures into schools. And lastly, the project
methodology will not rely on analysing participant interviews (which has been general practice),
but on the progress of the processes themselves – this is also reflected in the ethnographic
research design and research methods (e.g. shadowing).
