Fieldwork is a form which has been considered for many years to be a very strong instructional
strategy for understanding today's world. Fieldwork, which is also firmly anchored in Czech
education, fosters different kinds of skills in students, mainly associated with practical activities
in the countryside and in its essence permeates the whole curriculum of primary and secondary
schools. However, there is not an awareness of the inclusion of fieldwork in school educational
programs (SEP) and of its actual implementation in schools. Its influence on physical activity
and a healthy lifestyle has only been marginally investigated.
The outputs of this project are: 1) analysis of fieldwork anchoring in the selected SEP BE, 2)
comparison of the benefits of traditional teaching in the classroom and fieldwork on the
development of competencies for solving problems of students and physical activity and, 3)
based on the findings, to subsequently proposal an optimal system for the organization of such
fieldwork for all grades at the individual stages of primary education.
