Textbooks faced many challenges during the coronavirus disease pandemic, e.g., their low use because of competition with a wide variety of online teaching materials (Silva & Sousa, 2020), limited textbooks availability (Murphy & Shelley, 2020), and lack of teachers’ guidance (Yan et al., 2021). We do not know the answers to the questions how the teaching during the pandemic affected new textbook development, adaption of textbooks by teachers, and their effectiveness in learning. The project aims to follow previous textbook research activities of the applicant, to review current international textbook research on the shift from textbook to digital teaching materials use and to contribute to its development in the context of the Czech Republic.
